CLAT Counselling Process 2017
- Candidates will have to login to their respective CLAT 2017 accounts.
- Upon logging into their respective CLAT accounts, they will be able to view one of the NLUs allotted to them as per the first CLAT 2017 seat allotment list and counselling round I.
- The allotted NLU will be at par their merit list and preferred NLU as indicated by them during filling CLAT 2017 application form.
- Next they will have to deposit an amount of Rs. 50,000 as fee for CLAT 2017 counselling between the aforesaid dates (refer CLAT 2017 counselling scheduled above).
- Those who fail to deposit the fees in the stipulated time are liable to lose their allotted NLU seat, admission opportunity to NLU and CLAT 2017 candidature even as their names will be dropped from the CLAT merit list.
- After CLAT counselling fees have been deposited, the committee will issue second indicative seat allotment list mentioning the names who have locked their NLU seats and a list of candidates who are provisionally selected for the second round of CLAT 2017 counselling against the vacant seats made by the dropped out candidates of the first counselling round. This indicative list is for the CLAT Counselling Round II.
- The list will also indicate the candidates who have been upgraded/ shifted to a higher NLU arising out of the vacancy.
- The candidates who have been freshly added to the second indicative counselling list of CLAT 2017 will need to pay the counselling fees by a stipulated time limit (refer CLAT 2017 counselling scheduled above). However, those who have been upgraded need not to re-deposit the fee.
- Similar to the first seat allotment and CLAT counselling round I, candidates who fail to deposit the counselling fee within the time limit will forfeit their rights to be selected for NLU admissions and their names will be dropped from the merit list of CLAT 2017.
- The CLAT Committee will publish another list, i.e., the third indicative seat allotment list for CLAT Counselling Round III mentioning names of those who have upgraded to higher NLUs and offered fresh seats against the vacant ones arising due to non-submission of CLAT counselling fees.
- Similar to the first and second round of CLAT 2017 counselling, candidates allotted seats for the first time will have to deposit a counselling fee within the stipulated time duration (refer CLAT 2017 counselling scheduled above).
- Those who fail to deposit the CLAT 2017 counselling fee will be dropped out from the merit list of CLAT and their seats will be vacant for filling-up by the other candidates in the CLAT merit list.
- Before publishing fourth indicative list, the CLAT committee provides a withdrawal option to all those candidates who have been allotted NLUs in the previous CLAT counselling rounds.
- Those who wish to withdraw from CLAT 2017 admissions will need to exercise the ‘Withdrawal’ option after which an amount will be credited to their registered bank account after deducting Rs. 10,000 from deposited counselling fees. However, those who withdraw their allotted NLU seats after the last date of withdrawal will not be liable to receive any amount and it’ll result in forfeiture of the entire CLAT 2017 counselling fee.
- Further, the CLAT 2017 admission office will publish fourth and the last indicative list of CLAT counselling 2017 mentioning all those candidates who have been allotted NLUs for a final term.
- Candidates as per the final seat allotment list of CLAT 2017 counselling will have to deposit the entire fees at their respective allotted NLUs.
- The candidates are required to report at their respective NLUs with their relevant certificate/ documents required for the CLAT 2017 admission formalities.
- It must be noted that the candidates who do not meet CLAT eligibility criteria 2017 will not be offered admissions to NLUs even if they have been allotted a seat and their candidature will remain cancelled thereon. Further, no communication will be entertained in this regard.
- Such candidates will also automatically lose their candidature as well as CLAT counselling fee amount of Rs. 50,000 and can’t claim for that, under any circumstances.
How To Attend CLAT Counselling 2017

- Provide login details including User Id/ Registration Id and Password.
- Click on o ‘Counselling’ tab.
- Go through the indicative seat allotment list of NLUs.
- Pay the requisite amount of CLAT 2017 counselling fee (applicable to only those candidates who have their names in the indicative list for the first time).
- Exercise ‘Seat Lock’ option given against the allotted NLU.
- Save a copy of the NLU seat allotted list.
- Click on Logout option.
CLAT Admission Process 2017
The admission to UG and PG programme in participating universities under CLAT-2017 shall be completed through online centralised counselling conducted by CLAT Office. The basis of allotment of seats shall be ‘merit-cum-preference.’ That is, CLAT Rank and order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT application form. Online counselling shall start after the declaration of CLAT-2017 results. The entire procedure shall be completed as per the CLAT calendar which is available on CLAT website.

- A specified number of candidates from various categories will be allowed to participate in the counselling process against actual number of seats available with participating NLUs.
- The provisionally selected candidates must deposit the requisite counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- with CLAT-2017 Office.
- The adjustable counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- deposited with the CLAT office will be transferred to the respective participating NLUs where the candidate has finally taken admission after the completion of the entire admission process.
- The candidates failing to deposit the requisite counselling fee through the CLAT website by the specified date will lose their right to be considered for admission under CLAT-2017 and their names will be dropped from the CLAT-2017 merit list.
- The candidates have to reserve their seats after paying the counselling fee by the above said procedure prescribed in counselling guidelines given on the CLAT-2017 website.

- The CLAT office shall publish a second list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs.
- A list of waitlisted candidates will also be released in the second list who are provisionally selected against dropped out candidates, if any.
- The additional candidates are also required to pay the requisite counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- and reserve their seats within the prescribed time period as per the CLAT-2017 calendar.

- The CLAT office shall publish a comprehensive third allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs.
- The comprehensive list shall include the names of the candidates who have paid the counselling fee against the first and second indicative lists.
- A list of waitlisted candidates will also be released along with the third allotment list who are provisionally selected against the dropped out candidates
- These waitlisted candidates are also required to pay the requisite counselling fee and reserve their seats within the prescribed time period as per the CLAT-2017 calendar.

- The provisionally selected candidates can withdraw from the admission process within stipulated time as per the CLAT-2017 calendar. Nominal fee of Rs. 10,000/- will be deducted from the deposited counselling fee.
- Any withdrawal after the stipulated period will result in forfeiture of entire amount of counselling fee.
- The CLAT office shall publish a comprehensive fourth allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs.
- The comprehensive list shall include the names of the candidates who have paid the counselling fee against the first, second and third indicative lists.
- The candidates whose names appear in the fourth list and who have not deposited the counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- are required to pay full fee to the allotted NLUs at the time of admission.
